Words from karma:

Growing up in North Devon, with both parents as surfers, I was introduced to the ocean and the surfing lifestyle from a very young age. I caught my first wave at just 4 years old in Bali, and since then, the Ocean has been at the heart of my life.

I began working as a surf instructor at Surf South West in Croyde when I was 14, and over the years, I’ve progressed to become a level 2 ISA instructor. Surfing has also taken me to the competitive world - I started competing at 12 and was selected for the British Junior team at 16, which gave me the opportunity to compete internationally at the ISA World Junior Games in France and Ecuador.

After turning 18, I shifted my focus away from competition and towards my career at Surf South West. During the winters I’ve been lucky enough to continue traveling the world, spending most of my time in Indonesia.

In 2022, I took on a new challenge as a coach for Surfing England, where I now coach the English Junior Team, along side keeping my role at Surf South West. It has been an amazing experience travelling with the team to the ISA World Juniors in El Salvador and Brazil. It feels like my journey has come full circle, and I’m incredibly proud to now be able to share my knowledge and experience with the next generation of surfers.
